Louisville 2016

It’s April and time for the puck to drop in Louisville. 2016 again saw the Iceland Sports Complex at maximum capacity playing host to teams from 5 states across 4 different divisions. Facing off for top spot in Tier II were some local boys, the Camel Toews lead by team captain Brandon Shures and Kevin Mezzella’s veteran Sprint team. Youth prevailed as Shures squad took the gold in a 7-5 victory. Tier III saw the Michigan Aces take on Dump N Chase in a true nail bitter. With the teams tied 5-5 at the end of regulation play the game moved into overtime. Disaster struck for the Aces when they were called for a throwing the stick infraction and Dump N Chase was granted a penalty shot. DNC’s Jeremy Lyons converted and the team hoisted the cup as champions. The Tier IV gold medal game saw Micah Arnold pitch a shutout for the Ugly Dekelings solidifying his place as the tournament MVP and Top Goaltender and the boys from Knoxville repeated as Tier V champions with a 6-3 victory against 10 Minute Majors.
